How to format your flash drive

Formatting your flash drive will erase all the existing data stored on your flash drive. We can also format our  usb flash drive for the purpose of operating system compatibility 

Here are some steps on how to format your usb flash drive.

1. Connect your usb flash drive to your computer or laptop.  make sure to connect it directly to the usb port. Do not use usb port extension or usb port hub when formatting a usb flash drive to maximize the speed of the format process. 

2.  Wait the computer to detect your flash drive. you will notice a bubble notification in your right side of your task bar that your device driver software has been installed successfully and ready to use.

3. Open "My Computer" or if you are using windows 8 version open "This PC" then locate for the removable disk, Select and Right Click and choose "Format" option.

4. You will see a a format option box. Choose the file system you want your flash drive to have and be careful in choosing a file system some operating system does not recognize a usb storage device with different file system format.

• FAT is the most basic system for storing files. This system can be slow at times, but it reduces compatibility issues because of its simplicity. Not all systems and devices use FAT by default anymore.
• FAT32 maximizes the disk space within your drive. This system is ideal if you want to read and write to the drive on both Windows and Mac OS X systems. This format does not support files larger than 4 GB and drives larger than 32 GB.
• exFAT allows you to store files larger than 4 GB and can be read and written in Windows and OS X 10.6.5 and later. You may have difficulty getting it to work in older systems and devices.
• NTFS is a fast system that allows you to access your files quickly. NTFS is most suitable for drives that need to be accessed for operating heavy software. Windows can read and write on NTFS drives, but OS X can only read NTFS, not write.

When you choose to run a regular format on a volume, files are removed from the volume that you are formatting and the hard disk is scanned for bad sectors. The scan for bad sectors is responsible for the majority of the time that it takes to format a volume.

If you choose the Quick format option, format removes files from the partition, but does not scan the disk for bad sectors. Only use this option if your flash drive has been previously formatted and you are sure that your flash drive is not damaged.

5.  Click "Start" to continue formatting your flash drive and wait for a few minutes to finish the process. you will see the pop up message " Format Complete".

How to build basic solar power system

Basically before we install a solar panel system in our home we need to consider what is your purpose of having a solar power system in your house. If you will use solar systems to power your house day and night consumption or for emergency use only or to power a certain equipment in your house. You need to compute the power consumption of your equipment for example your purpose is for lighting's only in case of brown for a short period of time you will only need a small solar panel charger, 12v deep cycle battery, PWM or MPPT charge controller and an off grid power inverter. There are two kinds of power inveter ON GRID and OFF GRID inveter.  ON GRID inveter connects directly from your solar panel to the alternating current in your house, while OFF GRID inverter connects from the battery and convert your 12 volts dc into  alternating current 110 to 220 volts to power your equipment's. In this tutorial we will talk about how to set up a solar power system using OFF GRID POWER INVERTER. Let say you have three  25 watts CFL bulbs to power up by your solar power system (3x25 = 75 watts) your power inveter should be at least 100 watts or more and you need also to consider how long it would be battery load will last. Bigger battery AH capacity the longer it will last. for example if you have a 120AH battery (x) 12v  you have 1,440 watts stored in your battery at full charge divided by 75 watts  your battery will up to 19 hours at full charge.  

You don't want to drain your battery frequently because it will shorten the battery life most of the battery last from 3 to 5 years if you maintain them properly. Ok let's start.

Materials 

1. Solar Panel ( I'm using 100 watts but any unit will do 10, 50, 150 watts etc.)
2. 12 volts Deep cycle battery ( I'm using 2SM car battery)
3. PWM or MPPT Charge controller ( I'm using MPPT 20A  since it has better performance than PWM) 
4. OFF GRID power inveter ( I'm using 1,000 watts 220 volt power output)

At the back of solar panel you will see two terminal one is negative and the other is positive to identify which one is a positive, look for the blocking diode and see where is the grey color is connected it should be the positive terminal. 

Connect a wire to each terminal 

Then connect the two wires to your charge controller be careful with polarity positive to positive and negative to negative . Connect your charge controller to your battery bank be careful with the polarity. Most of the charge controller has a 12v DC out load coming directly from your solar panel in the morning you use it to power your radio lights etc.

Connect your power inverter to your battery (red for positive and black for negative). then turn on your inveter and  plug in your lights.

That is the basic way to build a solar power system. You can add fuse and breaker for safety and protection.

How to recover USB FLASH DRIVE (Not Recognized)

There are many reasons why USB flash drive can not recognize by windows. First maybe your usb port is bad, if it is the reason you can fix easy by try inserting usb flash drive device into another usb port or if you are using usb extension or usb hubs try to plug your usb drive directly to your computer. Second your usb flash formatted in different type of file system. If that is the case Right Click your MY COMPUTER icon then click MANAGE then look for STORAGE under the storage you will see DISK MANAGEMENT. On there you should see your usb drive. On the long box right click and delete partition. Once the partition is deleted right click again the long box and create new partitions and follow the instructions.

 

But sometimes the above solution doesn't work. Sometimes new technology sucks,  The motherboard needs to be “rebooted” also because something can go wrong, i.e. all your USB ports suddenly stop working. The small microprocessor on the motherboard will reload the drivers and your USB ports should be back to recognizing all devices. This solution applicable not only in usb drive but with all usb devices. Simply the solution is to UNPLUG THE COMPUTER FROM POWER THE SOURCE.  after you unplug your computer from the power source press the power button for 1 minute or more, because even your computer is not connected to the power source still the have a reserve power stocks in the capacitor. Then plug in back and turn on your computer.

You can also try to take apart your usb flash drive and diagnose if there is a disconnected pin because usually sometimes  we are careless on inserting and removing  the device  from the computer. Reconnect it using soldering iron and lead.

Step 3. A new window will appear go to BOOT tab then click the advance options.

Step 4. A new window will appear again.
Step 5. Place a check mark on "/NUMPROC=" for windows xp and windows 7 or Number of processor for windows 8.  In this tutorial I'm using windows 8.
Step 6. A drop-down list will become clickable. Choose the number of processor do you want to use with the machine on boot. for me i have a dual core then a choose 2. 
Step 7. Click OK then the boot advance window will close and you will see the System Configuration window will appear from behind again click OK then restart your computer and see the difference.

2. At RUN type CMD or Command then press OK then the command dialogue box will appear check the usb device drive letter assign by the computer commonly if you have a single drive without partition and a DVD or CD drive your USB driver letter assigned is (E:)  

3. The default location of your command prompt are in  the current windows users profiles example C:\USERS\ZAIDEN>  since we are working on your usb drive we need to change the DOS working location into your usb disk drive for me my usb device is in drive letter (D:)  you can easily check you usb drive letter by double clicking your "My Computer" icon or "This PC" if you are using windows 8. at the DOS prompt type the usb device assigned letter followed by a colon. Example:  C:\USERS\ZAIDEN>D: (press enter)

4. The command prompt will appear like this. D:\> that means we are now working on a disk drive with assigned letter E. (if your usb disk drive is assigned to a different drive letter of course it should be the disk drive letter assigned to it). On command line type Attrib -s -h /s /d and hit enter its should  appear similar to this D:\> ATTRIB -S -H /H /D and hit enter wait for a few minutes until the command prompt appears again that means the process is done and you will see your files and folder are back but sometimes folder without name will appear definitely your files are inside.

How to hard reset i Robot, Mid Share and other android tablet

There a are few reason why we need to do a hard reset to our android tablet.

1. Sometimes our android tablet specially those came from china freeze, hang and doesn't continue  on boot and you can only see is the android or manufacturer logo. 

2. Also we had forgotten the unlock password

3. You have drawn more than 10 times the lock pattern.

4. Your are unable to connect using PC debugging mode.

In that case we are forced to do a hard reset to make the gadget serviceable and use for our daily needs.  There are several types of procedure on how to hard reset your android tablet.  This procedure is for those android tablet that only present is power and volume-/+ button it is common in i-robot, Mid-Share and Samsung clone tabs.

Procedure 1:

1. Turn off your Android Tablet.
2. Press and hold Volume + and Power button.
3. Release Volume + and Power button when you see message on screen.
4. On Android Stomach Repair Logo Screen, press again Volume + and Power button.
5. On Hard Reset Menu Screen, use the Volume button to scroll up and down and use the Power button to select (click on).
